Toyota Type IV or compatible to Toyota Type IV. Not Toyota Type WS, this for sealed versions found in later model Lexus/Toyota cars..

Aisin recommends to use Aisin's ATF AFW+ or AFS replacing Toyota T-IV.
Since Aisin is the manufacturer of ATs for any LS400, I think their recommendations are quite authentic. Next time when I change the ATF, I will be using Aisin ATF AFW+.

One thing I wonder is that Toyota ATF WS can't be used for LS400, but Aisin ATF AFW+ can be used for LS400 and LS430.

Default Aisin ATF AFW+

Anyone with Aisin Type IV fluid and AFW+ transmission fluid specifications?

Contacted Lexus and they were unaware of AFW+...

Who stocks Aisin brand AFW+ transmission fluid in North America?..... Aisin fluids are not found on Auto parts store shelves in Chicago...

Saw that wide range listing that the WS type is covered by the AFW+, interesting. That was on an Australian site.

I use the stuff straight from the dealer. I'm sure you could use something else, but I don't usually mess around with transmissions. I always use the manufacturer recommended stuff to ensure I wont hurt the internals. It's not that expensive either, so no brainer for me.

Aisin manufactured our transmission and produces ATF TYPE T-IV for Toyota/Lexus and ATF AFW+.

Lubricants and hydraulic fluids have (arguably) improved over 25 years.

Still attempting to ascertain if attributes of AFW+ offer improvements over type IV.

Anyone with data of specifications?

Anyone who has switched to AFW+?

Are old and new fluids compatible??

Improved driveability cold and operating temperature??

How do you like the PDF file below?
It says that the Aisin AFW+ is fully synthetic.
I think you'll find most of answers.
According to local shop owners, this ATF works better than Toyota T-IV when it is cold.
They also commonly say that they don't need to stock Toyota T-IV and WS any more since it covers variety of models.

This is just for your information. Below is the specification for Toyota ATF T-IV. You can compare this and Aisin ATF AFW+.
