Default 99 LS400 - -largest width supported for 16" wheels

I have done a little bit of digging, and i see that the stock wheels for my 99 LS400 are 16x7, with 5x114.3 lug positions.

I am going to stay with 16's... and I am wondering if the LS will support anything wider than a 16x7 wheel with no rubbing, etc..

I see a number of models I like in a 16x8 - but am nervous if they will fit.

Does anyone here have any experience with this?

I would say if you are stock height and running 16's then you can go nearly as wide as you want as long as offset is correct. I run 8" wide on my 19's with no rubbing. A safe estimate would be 7-10" wide wheels.

I would consider 17 inch if changing wheels.Im reading 16 inch tire selection is getting poor.

I agree with spuds. Why buy another set of 16's? May as well go 17, 18, 19 or even 20. 19's and 20's look best with stock ride height but if you plan to drop low then 18's would be a great option.

I ran 20x8.5s +35 with a 245/35/20 tire and had no rubbing, even lock to lock. The wheel I ran was an Enkei LX-M with a square fitment front and back.

16x8 will fit easily.

If i could do 16" I'd do 16x9 with 255/50/16 R888. It has to be a really low offset if you have RCA's though. Probably not what you are looking for but it would look cool.
