I think it's me, not you. I completely missed that part of your original question.
For 97-01 LS400, the vehicle does not need to be present to just clone a currently working key. This is the same case with any Lexus that requires ECU work in all keys lost situations (late 1990s to early 2000s models).
Im wondering what sort of key I have now then EZkeys. I sent you my ECU immobilizer and a door lock, are my keys programmed as valets or masters? I know the small security light below my tachometer never blinks to indicate what key I'm using, maybe the bulbs burned? And if my set of keys are just valet keys, will it be impossible for me to now program a keyless entry for to the car? Thanks for any info ez and other members, you guys are awesome.
I programmed them as masters, so you can add more if you'd like. I'll bet that your light bulb is burnt out, that's fairly common given the vehicle's age. Sometimes they're also inoperable for other reasons (faulty wiring, etc.). The lack of a functioning security light will make it difficult to add keys yourself because the light is used as an indicator for which step you are in during the programming process. As long as you don't erase, I can make you more since I have the memory from your immobilizer on file. But if you erase and then add, I'll have no idea which key you erased and kept.
I have 4 keys for my car. Three of which are identical (as in the one you carry all the time) and one other that does not have button on it. I'm not sure why.
A valet transponder chip can be cloned. A valet key blade can be read to convert to a master. In other words, It's possible to have a valet chip and a master blade. The remote is a different story though.
I still have valet key blade would you able to cut the key.
Thank you,
Skippy
