Help to space out stock wheels.
 

I searched for a definitive answer and could not find. I didn't post in wheel setup 'cause I'm not quite there yet.:uh: At the IS forum someone said to space out 15mm.

On my stock "99" LS400, I'd like to space out the wheel-tires to fill the wheel wells a bit more. I have looked at a lot of wheels but cannot settle on anything yet. I am "old dude conservative" I almost chose 17 inch Lumarai Morro mirror face, but now wonder if I can just space out my existing oem "moon wheels" until I get there. If so,How and where is a good place to purchase the spacers?

15mm front and 20mm rear would be sufficient.

I recommend using version 1 spacers, which require installing extended studs (which are included).

I am unsure if you can use version 2 spacers since I don't know for certain if the oem wheels have the necessary voids on the mounting pad as mentioned in the "installation info" tab.

Hobycat, please post before and after pics if you try out some spacers. I don't mind the stock rims, but they'd look much better if they weren't sunk in so far.

Will do. I am going to examine brands etc. I am a bit too meticulous with Cloud9 as my wife has named her, as she always fall asleep when we go for a ride.😀

Generally speaking that when the studs are properly installed, hub rings used and wheels torqued to spec you'll be good. Adding these are a potential risk yet that can go for stocks too. Especially when some guy at a tire shop or service center over torque the studs. I've taken some off that were 90+ ftlbs over the years. Make sure the tech hand torques them.

For better fitment wheels with the fitment/offset for the intended application.

I put 22mm front 30mm rear on mine, but it was for 205/55/16 snow tires. I had them on with the stock 225/60s and they were fine, no poke I just didn't take a pic.

I have used DMV motorsports on ebay for the last 6-8 years without any issues. (do not over torque studs)

I only use hub and wheel centric adapter type spacers

So, you spaced them because the snow tires were wider? It does look as if you have a stronger looking width stance.To me mine reminds me of a 'Hotwheels',
when they get the axle wheel width wrong!

205s are narrower than 225s.

it kind of sounds like you don't like getting the wheels flush with the fenders so i'm a bit confused on why you would even want spacers

No not at all.That's why I love to talk face to face. I want them as flush as they can be. Yours look good.

I'm not always the best at writing my thoughts, that is why I like to talk face to face. Anyway I was trying to convey for an illustration that the toy "Hotwheels"
often have their wheels inset some are inline with the body others not so, causing them to look hokey.

blumagic,Thanks for your vendor info. I have stock size 225/60/15's, I have to do some tire width math. I think mr.0'tool is spot on for my spacer size.

Here are the before and after results of spacers installation for stock wheels on Cloud9. It doesn't seem like much in photos but in person there is a big difference. Funny thing is I measured the tire width sidewall to sidewall front to back before spacers. Front "71 Rear "71.5. Although I haven't remeasured I have a feeling their close to the same. The ride actually seemed a little better.:D

I still have a bit of a "Jones" for these Lumarai. "Wheel" see what the future holds!;)
