Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and I have a '92 LS400. The power steering pump and alternator are going. The car practically dies and the dash goes dim and radio shuts off. Before the dash started dimming, about four or five warning lights were staying on but if I happened to accelerate to 5000rpm or so, the warning lights would shut off.

I've done a search for this and have come to the conclusion the alternator is failing because the power steering pump was failing and dripping onto the alternator.

The prices I came up with from Bell Lexus was about $360 for the alternator and $370 for the power steering pump for internet pricing. Someone on here said the power steering pump was $160 from a post back in 2002 purchased from the same place. Have prices doubled since 2002 and is this the going price for the two parts?

My info (prices might be slightly out of date) shows the rebuilt alternator part #27060-50011-84 retails for 398.18.The power steering pump assembly part # 44320-50020 retails for 485.85.Figure 20% off those prices at Bell or another discounting dealer.I do believe there is a rebuild kit for the power steering unit.
