1996 LS400 Radio Turning on and off intermittently
1996 LS400
191,XXX miles
Hello, I've been reading on these forums for some time, Infinally decided to buy the LS400 yesterday.
The car has a Nakamichi audio system, and I got a FM transmitter so I can listen to the music from my phone. This morning I turned on the radio, the antenna went up and I played my music. Then the radio turned off, the antenna went down, up, down, on, off, I tried a cassette aux, but the Naka just spit it back out, I suspect that the problem may be that the system thinks theres a tape and tries to play the tape.
Anyone know what could be wrong?

the headunit is intermittent if it is turning off on its own, so you need to inspect the wires behind for loose or frayed connections.
the unit itself could be bad which is also plausible.
the tape ejecting is common when there is no signal on the "tape", or the tape deck itself is faulty. old technology...
