Default Lowering with bad roads?

Hey,
I live in Pittsburgh and although we don't have the worst roads, they can get REALLY nasty and I was wondering if there was anybody in a similar situation that lowered their LS. I want to get rid of the 98's wheel gap but how much can I lower it without having to worry about scraping on bad roads and things? Are there any particular recommendations for springs and where to get them.
THanks

On the roads you probably wont need to worrying about scraping, but going over speed bumps and driveways should be more of a concern. My car is lowered 2.75in and 3.25 in the rear, but I still dont have trouble driving on bad roads, but I do have trouble getting up driveways and going over speed bumps.

What did you lower it with? Coilovers or springs? Do you have any pics? And could you elaborate a little more on "trouble" with speed bumps and drive ways, exactly how bad is it and what year do you have? Any help would be appreciated? How is the ride performance and comfort wise? Oh, and how is it with a few people in the back, because I'm a student and I'm always hauling around something or someone
Thx

I have coilovers on my LS it is a 1st gen LS400 90-94. When I talk about speed bumps and driveways I have to take it at an angle, if i go striaght forward, I will scrap. But keep in mind I have a bodykit on my LS. Also having stuff in the car will lower the car even more. As for perfomance the car will corner much better, but you will lose a bit in comfort, but not much.

here is a pic
