Default Lowering with bad roads?

Hey,
I live in Pittsburgh and although we don't have the worst roads, they can get REALLY nasty and I was wondering if there was anybody in a similar situation that lowered their LS. I want to get rid of the 98's wheel gap but how much can I lower it without having to worry about scraping on bad roads and things? Are there any particular recommendations for springs and where to get them.
THanks

I lowered my car and Houston is really bad at pot holes and road construction. As long as you don't drive like a maniac then it should be OK.
