Is this a good deal? Lexus LS400 with 98k miles in Black Jade Pearl for $4500
https://richmond.craigslist.org/cto/...525781973.html . That's the link to the craigslist post. Its a 100 miles away but I'm willing to drive as long as its a good deal. What I really want to know is am I actually paying a good price for a vehicle like this or is this just a straight ripoff? I can't compare it to many vehicles In my area of the model years 1998-2000 (Those are the years I want) since there are very few and the other two that I have come across are completely sketch. Is this a good deal? Thanks so much this is my first post if I completely screwed up this post just tell me how to post things in the future and I'll take it down. Thanks for your time!

Hello and Welcome LexiAlly,
The short answer is yes it is worth it if no issues (no accidents or rust) and decent maintenance history and current (and documented) on maintenance (timing belt service done, good tires, etc.).
Also, for more peace of mind, have a Lexus knowledgeable shop perform a PPI. Should be about $100 and money well spent either way.
I just bought (400 miles away) a 2000 LS 400 with 144k miles and in VG shape but needed a TB service so when I'm done, I'll be in it for 5 grand. Nicer LS's are getting harder to find so if this checks out, I'd jump on it.
Good luck and keep us posted.

You're welcome. Forgot to add to run a Carfax. Not the definitive answer for accidents and title issues, but a good tool. CF also usually has some maintenance history.

Great color, but I am a little biased, seeing as to how I have the same color. I will echo what others have mentioned here. Check on maintenance history, if no timing belt has been done, that's a grand right there. Also, if history is limited on replacement of common wear items, be prepared to shell out some more loot. Typical failures at that mileage of rubber bits and pieces would be all control arm bushings, transmission mount, and engine mounts. When you start and drive the car, if you notice engine vibration, those mounts will need to be replaced. Should be hard to tell whether the car is even running if mounts are in good condition. Personally, I would assume the need to spend a few thousand getting the car up to snuff.
