Default Weird electrical problems! HELP

OKAY!

So, I bough the cheapest LS in my area. A 280 000km 1993 LS400.

Yes. Is has multiple problems.

All the usual ones. Like the trunk hinge, the trunk wire just below the left side tool box, the instrument
cluster, etc.

NONE of the reported problems have the same symptoms as mine. Unfortunately.

Let's start with the cluster.
Okay, the gaz needle dont work. I know what it is. But the lights are out, not the same way as everyone else here. The lights are not flickering. Is just goes out sometimes and the only lights that stays on are the flasher lights. Both of them. Also the ext temperature and the tripometer stays on.
maybe a bad cluster ground? Prolly not the usual capacitors as I read on this forum.

Also, the back lights. I repaired the trunk hinge thing, all good. Repaired the wire under the tool box, driver side, all good. The bulb failure module. Oh yes. This one.

It just burned out. Completely toasted.
I think it is useless for my build. Is there anyone who knows exactly what the wires do? So I can rewire them correctly as I just don't want to replace the module for another faulty one?

Thanks!!

Although you're already aware of it, I would recommend getting the ECM capacitors replaced. It's been blamed for all kinds of electrical gremlins and it's just good insurance for the future, too.

+1 and the instrument cluster is another regular fix on these. Getting those two taken care of is a good start. Good that you fixed the trunk hinge wiring, one less area to add to this.

Wll, turns out I replaced the 3 capacitors behing the dash board and it worked for the gaz needle and partially for my cluster problem.
It was okay for a couple of days and it just went off just like described.
What exactly are the symptoms for a bad ECM?
Do you guys know about the bulb failure bypass as I asked?
