Default Engine Cover Splash Shield ( underneath engine )

Hello guys

i have a problem regarding the plastic cover underneath engine, its torn apart and is no longer in a condition to used , and i cannot find any website that sell them for a decent price with shipping to bahrain, i did check in the scrapyard but couldn't find any in a good condition , so i was thinking to place a sheet metal instead , i could find a thin piece of sheet metal and customize it. to the same size and so on.

but my question is will it create any heating problem in the future ? i might even add extra holes for air venting but will it work ?

kindly let me know guys
much appreciated
Thanks

How important is the under splash tray? I still have about half of mine hanging on by one or two clips but it droops down in the center by a good 2 inches would that cause a lot of mpg loss you think?

Should I just remove it all together? Or would you feel it's necessary to get a replacement one?

I just moved to Michigan from Arizona, and I've never had an issue with it being an AZ car, just worried about snow and crap getting caught in it.

If you live anywhere where it snows than yes, replace it.

it reduces drag, keeps it clean and also prevents anything from getting lodged or stuck in the engine area such as rock or big object.

What sheet metal setup?

Had a Mercedes-Benz with added OEM bottom shield made of steel (not.floppy plastic).....used in parts of the world requiring bottom engine protection.

Well made.. (even had a cutout for oil dran plug) BUT noticed an increase in reflected engine noise in passenger compartment with cover vs without cover.

Painted steel or aluminum would be great with some type of sound attenuation layer on engine side that would absorb or otherwise not relect sound which would not mind oil or coolant would be great.

In fact, our hard plastic undercover refects engine noise within engine compartment, but removing it increases wind noise

The metal sheet For cover underneath the engine bay, i think ill just go for it probly sheet metal or like you said aluminum sheet.

i need one badly because of the rain and water going on the clutch fan and making things messy and rusted it might even cause damage to some components of the engine like the pullys n so on, which i replaced all of them already .

If you have the fabrication skills, go for it! An aluminum one would be great. As noted, the undercover is part of the aerodynamics of the car so removing it will bring some subtle changes with the noticeable one being more road dirt coming into the engine bay.

I'm looking for replacement for the splash shield for 1998 LS400 as well.

Ebay has the ones on sale for 1995 to 1997 Lexus and it looks very similar to the 1998 to 2000 splash shield.
Is there much difference?

95 to 97 Splash Shield

98 to 00 Splash Shield

I went through this with ours some years back. There were subtle changes in production so the dealer needed the VIN to verify fitment. The part # for our '97 is: 51441-50030. There were several different part#'s that came up online and when I took those the the dealer he shook his head saying that was not what his parts computer had for ours. That said, if a factory or aftermarket undercover is available or can be adapted, this is going to less money than fabricating one from scratch.

Lexus South Atlanta shows part# 51443-50070 for a '99 and '00,
'98 is 51441-50070 and also shows 51441-50030.

You want a shocker for the '99 and '00, check this price if it is right:
https://parts.autonationtoyotasoutha...ver-5144350020
That part number at Lexus south Atlanta is for one of two side shields.

This is the price for that 97' part number shield you listed
