Default Killing a 1UZ-FE...

I still don't really like the idea of purposely killing an engine... But the fact this dude did it because he was swapping it out for a new one makes me feel a little better. On the HP, Brett mentioned that the 1UZ-FE is one of the most reliable engines ever made, but he didn't mention it was actually certified for use in aircraft, which is pretty rad.

Not me. This video confuses me no less than the bored rich idiots who kill themselves drifting in Saudi Arabia. Sort of an advanced state of mental rot. No respect for the engineering. Looks like a typical desperate attempt to keep the attention on them as they run out of ideas. Yetch.

Looks like the front fender is crapped out as well. I bet it wouldn't take much fixing to get it running again. Just some typical know nothings. The age group......

In engineering you purposely break things to test and prove. So yes people who build things also break them.

I looked deeply into that kid's eyes as he excitedly gave us the blow-by-blow. There was no "test" and there was nothing to "prove". Toyota had already done all that for us.
If this kid had blown the engine at hour 23 at the LeMans track in fourth place, that would be different.

The comment was for Kitabel that said people that break things are opposite of them that make them. I was just proving that false and nothing else.

Keep it civil guys. Only warning.

At the end of the day LS400s are mass produced cars. People are free to do what they like and I could really care less that these guys "destroyed" a $300-500 engine for a car they made >65,000 of (95-97 sales in the US alone). "Respect the engineering" is a hilarious thought considering they're planning to put a 2.5L turbo 6 into the car and slide t around. They're re-engineering it to fit their purpose.

Does it pull at my mechanical sympathy a bit? A little.

That is the bottom line.Just rubs ME wrong to watch, personally,on many levels.I mean, you can drink battery acid if it floats your boat and i dont care, but dont expect I wont nominate you for a Darwin award.

However,as much as i disagree with it,i respect their right to do so.But dont expect people to not be offended by your actions and underlying thought processes, many will be.If you can post it to get a response, expect others to post their response to it, its tit for tat.Be real, many people DO find it offensive.

To be fair, he did say the engine was basically nearing it's retirement.

Plus the auto 1JZ Chow is going to put in it will be neat.
