Agreed on not wanting to do the labor twice, it's a ***** of a job (mechanic that did mine cussed me up and down, and we're good friends) but OEM parts are vastly overpriced. A starter is a starter, as long as it's warrantied I say aftermarket.

Denso is the OE manufacturer and you can buy a reman Denso starter at Rock auto for under $100. The mounting bolts on the back of the starter are a PITA to get to plus the coolant bypass line complicates things.
Take a look at this thread- https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-1st-and-2nd-gen-1990-2000/850235-starter-replacement-on-1999-ls400.html it shows a much less invasive way to solve the problem with out replacing the coolant bypass gaskets, potentially damaging heater control valve and hoses, etc.
It's for a 99 but the topic of the thread should still apply to a 94. If it seems like it's on it's way out but hasn't died yet contacts would make sense.

I found a BOSCH SR3237N starter motor for $130 new...includes solenoid and lifetime warranty. The DENSO is remanufactured with a 12 month warranty and costs around $40 less.

Do yourself a favor and indulge in a little research. See what issues others have run into when doing this job and you'll see worrying about which brand of starter to buy is probably the least of your worries.
Keep us posted on the results and best of luck !

The starter is in the V of the motor. A very efficient location for keeping a motor compact, also a horrible place to access for replacing a wear item. You're looking at 6-8 hours of labor.

Don't cheap out, buy a Denso or Dealer only. The labor alone when your "budget" autozone or oreilly parts store brand one fails won't be worth it. Don't be foolish to save a couple bucks, it's probably the hardest thing to change on these cars.

Took my car to O'Reillys today and they tested the alternator, battery and starter. The alternator tested GOOD, the starter tested at 115 amps, and the battery tested BAD. I bought the battery at COSTCO last November so it is under warranty. This is good news if this is the correct diagnosis!!!
