Default 2000 LS400 Check VSC /VSC off

I've been getting this CHECK VSC message on my car for a few days I reset the vsc a few times but it keeps coming back after a few minutes
I took it to my mechanic and he said I need to replace the Yaw Rate Sensor and the Steering Angle Sensor and it would cost about $900
he also said its not really necessary and I won't really notice a difference in driving

How important is it to get this fixed?
How hard is it to do?
Would I possibly be able to do it myself for cheaper?

Any help is appreciated
Thanks in advance.

p.s. the battery is new and in good condition

What did you find out was your problem? I still haven't identified my problem (which is discussed in the link python provided).

By the way, I have been using my car with the ABS and VSC OFF lights on (and the little annoying RED light next to the display) plus the display of Check VSC for the last 3+ months, without any problem other than the annoying lights. However, it is about to get icy on the roads in MN, so I think I am going to start being effected by not having ABS and VSC, soon.
