Lexus LS400 to 2JZ-GE conversion
Hi,
I recently purchased a 1993 lexus LS400 for $600 with 3 months rego. The problem is where I live Melbourne Australia, I can not drive a V8 untill I get my Full licence in 4 years. Just wondering as anyone done a V8 to V6 conversion on the Lexus LS400 very odd I know. I was wanting to know if the 2je-ge will fit and what else I need to change the transmission etc. The engine must not be a V8 or Turbo. I am willing to work on the car myself with a friend that is a mechanic.

My bad, I know it's a inline six. I want to convert to a six cylinder to able to legally drive it in Australia. Its because i got the car for really cheap is why I'm interested.

Awesome that you scored a running LS for $600. Don't engine swap it though.
Your best bet would be to flip it for a profit and buy something that you can legally drive.
Swapping any motor other than a 1uz into an LS will be very costly, both time and money. I think its safe to assume that it will absolutely destroy the resale value too. I like your ambition but I would leave it alone man. You're gonna want that v8 in there when the time comes anyways.

Disable 2 cylinders then you have a 6 or disable 4. So what would they say about that? Oh and for the ones that will question it, there are a lot of V8's that are running on 4 cylinders and the other 4 cylinders are for compressor. And besides they couldn't complain about it because some OEM's are doing just that. You could argue that yours is not on demand but a semi permanent deal, till your legal.

Right, all you need is the special crankshaft, camshafts, manifolds, related hardware and ECU for that UZ engine that came from the factory with cylinder disable capacity.
Which one is that again?

They're the government, they don't have to do anything. You need their approval.

I guess you didn't read what I said. There are industrial compressors that use small block ford v8's I rented one, at one time years past. Half the engine was engine the other half was compressor. A V8 is simply 2, 4 cylinder engines side by side. Engines are my passion, and I have done many things with them that some folks may think not possible.
And for another thing to prove you wrong OEM's are and have used cylinder cut out techniques for fuel economy improvements.

All that matters here is that if he can't drive it in his state, there is no point in disabling any cylinders .
Australian legislation excludes vehicles from being driven by p platers if they are at certain HP to weight ratio or have certain engine types. If he was driving a pickup with a v8 he would be able to drive it, in qld atleast. Here he would be able to drive the ls400 as is but his state has different laws.
