Oem subwoofer removed Ucf20 +An after maket sub recommedation
So today i wanted to replace the decindigrating oem woofer, i found the tutarials but they are good for Ucf10.. so after i removed the lower seat i address to the rear part of the seat.
The Ucf20 model addes another 3 boltd behind the head rest cusions (1 bolt behind each cusine.
After ive done with that i removed 2 plastic screw that held the front of the rear shelf, Ucf20 addes another 3 bolt that hold the read shelf and on top of these bolts there is a plastic head that is used for clamping the rear curtain.
still the shelf refused to move, i saw that the inner trims of "C" crossbeam holds the shelf so jently i removed it (first you need to remove the rear side lights and the side roop handles).
only after that the rear shelf was loose.
Also i had to diassemle the truck trims and expose the fuel tank in order to loose the middle brake light under the rear shelf, but maybe its right only for my car due to some former elecricity work.
hope this info will help others..
Do you have any preferations about what kind of an after market sub to install insted of the oem?
maybe increase to 10"?
Thx,
Shlomy

hey SoCal_450h,
The curtain came from a local israeli manufacturer that makes them, so im sorry i cant help you with that, but, ive checkrd the net for other possibilites and found this a lot of curtains when i wrote at google - "car curtain convinient rear shield"
hope it will be helepful.
BTW, ive installed an 8" infinty woofer and i works perfert! not too loud, exact amount of bass you need. really liked this special location for the woofer insted of putting it in a box in the trunk

I have been wanting to swap out the oem 8" woofer for something aftermarket for a while now, but every time I go to an audio shop the owner / sales reps totally shoot me down. They claim that anything I put in the factory location will sound terrible, unless it is a factory replacement.
You are happy with how the Inifinty sounds? I might just have to do it despite their suggestions against it.

hello ethan,
It depens what are you looking for, here also many shops told me to leave the oem sum location empty and put a 12" *2 subs in the trunk or a 15".
I didnt want to put a big sub box in the trunk and i look for more of a calm bass rather than huge big loud bass.
Although an 8" sub sounds small, dont forget that it plays its bass directly to the cabbin and not closed in the trunk so you here it much better and louder.
I think that the 8" gives exactly the right amount of bass you want to hear in the cabbin, but if youre looking for a louder big bass you should address bigger subs.

I am not looking for bigger or louder bass, just looking to match or perhaps slightly increase bass from the worn out factory sub woofer (mine is also disintegrating).
Would you say that your Infinity woofer at least matches the factory woofer performance?

Ethans - I cannot compare between the oem sub and the infinty sub because, when i bought the car the oem sub was dead.
I really recommend to put a godd qualty 8" sub insted of a bigger.
Also i saw on the net people that installed a 10" sub on the shelf but you need to be awere from the fuel system located below the sub location.
Dmize -I bought the car with a dead oem amp, so i did put an aftermarket amp (planet audio AC1500.1M), it moves the small sub quite nicely.
