7 Reasons to Buy the 1998-2000 LS 400
#2
That's a photo of an earlier LS...
Anyway here are my 7 reasons:
1. Quality (in Manufacturing and Materials and Engineering): Japan threw everything it had at this car and we reap the benefits.
2. Luxury (in Materials, Design, Performance, and Appeal): The leather is Still soft, the design is Still appealing, and it drives like a dream.
3. Reliability: the parts don't wear out easily, it's engineered to very high standards, it bests all its competition in this category, and is inexpensive to fix most issues.
4. Sound: It's quiet, whisper quiet, until you turn on the Nakamichi, then you are immersed into a world of beautiful sound. Love it!
5. Beauty: It's a copy of an old S-Class Merc you say? Whatever, all companies copy each other, and except for the lights of the old Q45, lower-priced class cars always copy their higher-prices class bretheren.
6. Gas Mileage: I burn 7.9-8.9 Liters/100km on the highway...less than my father's 2011 GS350. City isn't bad with 11-13.5 Liters/100km depending on how bad Toronto traffic is (often takes 1.5-2 hours to get downtown which is only 35km away).
7. Performance: It feels like a very proud, powerful tiger, but is as soft and quiet as a cub. It's got great brakes, a powerful engine, twisting torque, dual wishbone front and rear, is less than 4000 lbs, and an engine designed to take anything (reasonable).
Overall, for me, it's a mix of Luxury, Reliability, and Beauty.

idk who this "Curated Content Editor" that mysteriously appeared last summer... but if you're going to submit a thread that talks about how good a particular car is, you should really make sure the picture is of THAT car and not a different car which has been ruined like the one in the picture
but yes 1998-2000 LS is the most amazing car

the pictures might not even be the worst part of it... the engine slide has specifications for a 1st gen, the auto-leveling HID headlight slide also has a picture of a 1st gen which never had HIDs, and the slide that talks about one of the finest audio systems that toyota ever launched has a picture of some 3rd party aftermarket head unit... get it together cory!!

lol people are free to do what they want to their car, but when you have something that rides and drives THAT nicely, why spoil it? my car absolutely does not ride as smoothly as it did before i changed things, but i knew that would happen and was just curious how it'd look in person after i saw a picture of it lowered with the LS 430 wheels. it's been a year now and i definitely want to go back to a fully stock setup, it's really the best way to do it with these cars

Yeah. I honestly hadn't seen too many LS's. Up here (upstate NY) they don't naturally last as long because we're in the salt belt. I've seen a handful of modified ones because after Elvis (from Stancenation) got one, they started becoming "mainstream" I guess. but, they seem like such a hidden gem.

you're saying that i'll make the world boring, yet here you are advocating being completely considerate of other peoples feelings... how fun!! debates worldwide would be very short if everyone just agreed with everyone else and called it a day the LS is not a car meant to be riced, that's why all civics are sold with a pair of chopsticks and wasabi injection for when you want to go faster
