Default Oil leak oh no!!

hello people, I bought this 94 ls400 about a month ago. I noticed it had an oil leak but it seemed to get worse. Does anyone know what I would need to do to fix this? Also I noticed the bolt there cracked the plastic on there. Thanks guys!

Looks like your crank shaft seal is leaking. You basically have to open up the WHOLE front end to change it. Change the timing belt and water pump while your in there. It's a big job but doable if your comfortable wth wrenches.

Its not just wrenching, its understanding what proper timing is and proper assembly etc.

i found a how to thread. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/engine/timingbelt.html
I was worried about setting the timing on the belt and crank pulleys but he stated on how it goes on and where it's supposed to be set so I will be tearing this thing apart in the next 2 weeks when i get paid. I'm going to replace the water pump, timing belt, and thermostat as well. also i noticed there oil all around the block and around the lower half of the motor. could that be just from the fan blowing the oil around? Thanks guys!

Crank and Cam seals for sure. Just did mine a couple months ago. Change your oil pressure sensor as well.

Other oil leaks? Have you checked the valve cover gaskets? I found mine were leaking, but just tightening the bolts helped stop that.

Look over my timing belt DIY if you'd like another viewpoint.

Yeah when the covers they are in are off, can be easy to goof things up prying them out, if that's how you do it.
