Default Moonroof cover rattle

Is this a common problem? If so, what is the DIY fix for this? Wanted to check here before I started looking into it in detail. As you know, rattles can take a lot of time to detect and fix

gah i have the same rattle that i thought it was the glass but it's just the cover. when i slide the cover open, the rattle/clunk goes away. i still haven't been able to pin point it!

one time debris from a tree fell into the groove of the cover so it would hinder movement sliding open/close. i thought it was due to that, but i see it may be common. i have a 97.

My 98 also has a completely shot front end suspension, I am assuming with this, more rattles cannot be absorbed or dampened and anything remotely loose is gonna do the shake. Also wondering if a different rubber compound was used between 97 and 98. My 97 is smooooooooooth with 184,000 and a tight front end. No moonroof rattle...

This is fairly common and must times it's the cover. If you close it the rattle goes away. But the seal around the glass doesn't seal as tight after so many years and you get some play.

The only rattle I have is the moonroof. Surprised to hear of so many rattles in other LSs.

my 98 has this same rattle. Sliding the shade to its full open position causes the rattle. If i slide the shade forward just a few inches the rattle goes away. Anyone been able to figure out a solution to this problem ? thanks

Someone posted a fix involving placing a shim or something near the front to take up the play. It's on here somewhere.

No I'm talking about the sunroof shade and I believe it was in one of the other forums on here.

Edit:
One google search and you would have found the thread!

My 1999 has had the sunroof shade rattle for quite some time too. If I slam/force the sunroof all the way forward (closed) it goes away, and there is also no rattle if I have it at any open position. It only rattles when it is in its 'soft-shut' resting position, for lack of a better term. It rattles right behind my head, drivers side in between the headliner and the roof. Havent been able to fix it other than forcing it forward or leaving it just slightly pulled back.
Just my 0.02
