Post Interesting read on LS400 from Motor Trend 2011

For those of you who have the time, interesting read from Motor Trend Magazine from 2011 about the birth of the Lexus and the introduction of the LS400 along with the Acura NSX and the huge impacts and standards they placed on cars being built today.
Was actually looking for something else and ran across this article:

http://www.motortrend.com/news/1991-...-lexus-ls-400/

Unfortunately I've only owned the Lexus but would not mind owning the other either.

Interesting thought presented that we owe the introduction of the Lexus brand to Ronald Reagan and the Voluntary Restraint Agreement from 1981. Have not researched it, but seems to make sense.

Now we need another company to follow this path and raise the bar yet again, as it seems the manufacturers have again become complacent and unchallenged.

Nice read and I can attest to all the praise. I remember trying to convince and older friend of mine to buy the LS in 1989. He was debating between the LS and 420 SEL. Mercedes was still more prestigious at the time so he bought it. The MB was a nice car so I could not fault his decision.

The NSX? I need the entire garage and contents.
Very nice setup indeed. Congrats to you and the toys you've acquired.

Thanks guy for the kind words, the nsx is an amazing car till this day, it made Ferrari and I'm sure many other super car of the era go back to the drawing board. As far as fun factor goes the Honda S2000 is so much fun to drive around, the transmission is probably one of the best around.

And fortunate you are! Love the setup. This article was a great read, I now understand why I love the LS400 and 90s Japanese vehicles so much!

I have a similar combo, NSX and LS. Best of the best from the 90s.

Nice NSX, congrats!
BTW, a friend of mine who owned both NSX and a Ferrari and who was a car engineer told me this joke:

- What is the difference between a Ferrari and an NSX? The NSX was designed by people with college degrees.

He preferred the NSX to his Ferrari.

BTW, one of my most favorite car commercials ever:

I agree both those cars are amazing. I own a '97 LS400 and it has all the creature comforts and drives just as well as my Infiniti FX35 that is 10 years newer. I looked at NSX's but I needed rear seats for my 3 year old son who loves cars just as much as me so I got a '97 Supra TT. "They don't build them like they use to."
