Default my 1991 lexus won't start

I replaced my alternator on my 1991 lexus ls 400 it started and then all the power went out. So i checked all the fuses and i found out the alternator fuse was blown. I replaced that and I got power but it just clicks now it won;t turn over or anything. So what do I do next?

I'm guessing as to the order of events...

1. Replaced alternator without disconnecting battery first
2. Fuse blown due to (1)
3. Started car, battery dies due to (2)

Recommend recharging battery at this point?

Hello !!!!! If you really want help then we need details. djamps said something was he correct? DID YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE WORKING ON THE CAR???????
Did you get sparks from anything when doing the alternator deal?????????????

If everything was done correctly and the alternator is bad, then the fuse should keep blowing, if the fuse doesn't keep blowing then originally you did something to blow it.

And like djamps says charge the battery or use jumper wires and try to start it.

Was the engine running before the alternator change? Did it start fine just before you did the alternator change? Was the battery charged before you did the alternator change?

First try to jump it, forget the alternator right now. If you can't jump it then just find a good battery to try or find someone to charge yours. It could be the electric system is messed up, since you said the battery was not disconnected to do the job. That's a huge no no on any car.

Aren't there multiple fuses that can blow when you have an accidental contact with the leads when swapping out the alternator? As a reminder to all...these cars really are not happy with electrical glitches. Always disconnect the battery when doing repairs, especially of the electrical nature.
