It may fit, but there could be some electrical and mechanical changes.
According to online searches, the 1990-1994 LS 400 uses the A341E transmission, while the 1995-1997 LS 400 uses the A340E.
EDIT: This SC owner was able to do the swap successfully. This thread may be worth looking into.
