Old car fine, sell it for an old car price. Old beaters are way less than almost $3000. you can find a real good 94 LS for 2000 I see lots of them and all the paint is shiny and good looking.

But is the interior in as nice a shape as that with no tears, etc?

Anyways, make the guy an offer. I'm sure you can buy that car for less than the $2,800 he has it listed for.

I just don't understand why this bothers you so much.

On the 1K car, the driver seat has some spots other wise pretty good inside.

Clearly the car has no value because it doesn't have the original head unit lol

In fact, they should pay you to take it.

I was being funny. I don't consider the radio replacement an issue at all in a car like this lol

In fact if I were buying something like this and indented to drive it a good bit I would replace the radio to get Bluetooth, nav, etc. Plus after 27 years I'm sure the original speakers, which weren't high quality to start, are shot.

What? Everything in an LS is top quality. "Pursuit of perfection" you know.

Have you physically seen the speaker components in these cars yourself? They are not high quality speakers, they are paper coned, low quality speakers. We're not talking about fine high end home audio here, where well cared for speakers actually sound warmer and better with age. People have a lot of speaker failures and sub failures because the speakers are cardboard and they get brittle and fail.

I've owned three LS's spanning multiple generations. Yes the cars are very high quality, very well built and well cared for they really do stay enjoyable to drive and own for many years longer than other cars, but nothing lasts forever and the speakers in these audio systems are pretty typical auto OEM quality, which isn't very good.

New speakers, a new amp, and a modern headunit with nav, bluetooth audio streaming, satellite radio, etc is a very nice useful upgrade to a car like this.

The cone is paper, the surround and suspension material is a foam type material that breaks down and splits over time.

In short, they don't last forever and age is not their friend.

The speaker quality could have been better, but it's not terrible. The rear subwoofer is the worst in terms of wear over time, mainly due to its position right under the rear windshield. The direct path for UV light along with the heat in the cabin of the car deteriorates them.

I just restored mine last year. Not fun, because the housing did not provide a lot of room, but it worked.

My son in law has a 1991 ls400, and I've pulled countless back speakers out of the pick/pull places and they never work regardless of the mileage. I did however manage to get one for my 1996 ls 400 that worked(think the donor was at 96k miles and must have been a garage queen).
