Celsior is Lexus
Somebody want to explain how Celsior and Lexus are related? I am thinking that the Celsior is what they call a Lexus in Japan? Then I also see the Soarer name thrown around?

As I understand it, there is no Lexus name in Japan. They are all Toyota models. The LS400 is known as a Celsior, The GS400 is an Aristo, The IS300 is an Altezza, The RX300 is a Harrier, not sure about others.

There is no Lexus in Japan only Toyota. So in the JDM "Japanese Domestic Market" they have different names then the U.S counterparts.
ES=Windom
RX=Harrier
LX=Cygnus
LS=Celsior
GS=Aristo
IS=Altezza
SC=Soarer
Dont know if they have a name for the GX yet.

Because of the popularity with the "Lexus" name in japan, Toyota Japan will now start selling Lexus vehicles, JDM style, in japan. I think basically it's rebadging their toyota/lexus cars, that's it. A "USDM" Lexus swap is about as popular there as "JDM"ing your Lexus is out here.
the GS300 is an Aristo there, and the IS200 (no 300's) is an Altezza there.

GX= Prado
JDM, the GX470 is known as the Land Cruiser Prado (or Prado for short), in the way that the LX is the Land Cruiser Cygnus. I think what we see as the Land Cruiser at US Toyota dealerships (the truck that looks very similar to the LX) is the Land Cruiser 100.
Oh, and more trivia: IS SportCross: Altezza Gita
MeZoom mentioned that the 3.0 liter engine isn't available in the Altezza in Japan. There are some other engine differences in the lineup; I believe the JDM also gets a turbo GS300 (Aristo V300) instead of the the GS430. I've always read that the turbo models never made it to the US due to stricter emissions laws (LEV, ULEV).

i know there's a "less than 3 liter" version of the harrier/rx as well.
