Default LS400 and parts

Wow there are no pick n pull wrecking yards with in 200 miles of me that have any LS400's.
Are the people that run that place the most stupid people there are?
They keep cars for a month and then crush them. And of course charge stupid high prices on everything. Imagine the thousands of good parts sold for scrap, and now with the low price of scrap they barely make enough for fuel for the truck hauling it to the scrap place.
Sorry but it just makes me sick.

Demand. If they aren't selling they squish them. That is pretty typical even here but some yards do have space to put them into the deep pasture. Some of the specific pickers will buy the whole car to yank your wallet because they have them when the general yards don't.

+1. Many of them just want to get by so they don't consider a long lasting fix.

The fix would be get the message out to the place that there is a community that still likes and works on these cars and saving them longer than a month would be help full I called one time and told them that. But I'm just one person. There has not been an LS there now for 2 or more months. So I haven't been a customer there. Everybody call them and tell the managers this problem.

Meh, not an issue I've seen. Junkyards (self serve and traditional) are teeming with 1st gen LS', and 2nd gen (early) are beginning to be more common.

But i'm in Southern California so it may not be typical, lol.

Regardless, what mechanical (non-body/trim/structural) components are even worth anything on these cars after 20 years. It's not like there's a lackof literally any mechanical component for these cars from the aftermarket or OEM. This isn't like a 50s Chevy where I have to go hunt for springs in a yard because nobody makes them....

Check http://car-part.com to help you locate them.

For example, looking for a 1990 LS400 hood there were 20 of them within 200 miles of your zip code

there are tons of 1st gen UCF10s but only maybe 2-3 UCF20 and i've never seen a 98-00 UCF20 there.

This is in a JY in Phoenix that i go to. I found a set of Depo all clear headlights there which was a nice pickup. went on half off day and got them for 55 bucks!

I understand. Allow me to offer an actual useful reply. Where you should be looking is craiglist.org under autoparts for sale. There is no shortage of people parting out cars on there and even in my area (where cars don't last as long) there are two 90-94 partouts going on.

Like I never think of that????? First off, there are no 1st gens that are being parted here. Second one time I contacted the guy and he didn't answer back all week end, and then didn't seem to want any of the stuff I needed go. Too many characters doing the Craigslist deal. If I had lots of space I'd just buy a couple of cars and part them before the wrecking yards get em.

Around here that's miles away. Especially when you factor in the traffic. And actually over a year and half ago I did follow a long distance LS craigs parts deal. I got there and the prices were almost what the dealer would want, yeah the ad was up for a long time too. I've learned in my old age not to go chasing cars and parts that are over 30 miles away. Its seems always a disappointment, you know the "MINT car" that has all the paint peeling off,
and full of dents and mold inside.

30 miles?

My last commute was more than that lmao.

If you expect parts to literally fall into your lap you're going to have a hard time with just about any used car.

Going to the peninsula and or Tacoma and past is a mess period. It would have to be something real special to travel there. I have done the ferry boat deal to go look at a few pickup's in the past, came back empty each time. Like I say always a disappointment, someone way over selling their junk. I ask the right questions and get lies.
