Default steering wheel re-paint / re-dye

Does anyone know if the steering wheel is painted or dyed on the LS. . The color on my steering wheel is wearing off and I need to re-paint / re-dye. Where could I get it re-painted / re-dyed? Leather is still good, no tears just color is wearing down. Any help is appreciated.

Try www.american-stitches.com

they redue the steering wheels and gear shift, but they are kind of expensive.

Here is what I have done to mine. Cost like $30 easy to install and looks real good:

Interior looks a little different right now though and the steering wheel has a chtome L on it.

Nice interior where did you get the steering wheel cover?
I would like to see some more pictures of your interior?
What did you do about the gear shift?
Did you change the carpet too?

Default Cover

Retro,

Looks like a Wheelskin steering wheel cover to these eyes. These are made of a very high quality leather.

Prepare to get out the needle & thread however. Damon

Default Refinish

If you're into DIY you can do like I did: Go to Tandy leather and buy some water-based leather paint (not dye) and sponge it on with a sponge paintbrush. This works great if you don't have to color-match. In other words, if you have a black interior, you've got it made. I had to buy a few colors and mix to match my grey-blue leather. Anyway, the factory finish is not an aniline dye but it is a paint. If you go this route, remove any old loose paint first by pressing adhesive tape onto your wheel and pulling it off. Yeah, it was hard but if you're into this kind of thing it's actually fun. Mine turned out looking just like new.
