It looks like its in good shape. Do all the 93's have those plastic covers near the shock towers?

I don't think that they do. Looking at the engine bay, I think those are parts of the strut bar.

Also, it looks like the air intake has been modified, judging by the tube going to the throttle body.

Is this the original engine? I noticed that the cam covers look like the ones from a 95-97' model, which were all black with white lettering, as opposed to black with silver edges and white lettering from earlier models (see attached images). It could also just be that the silver paint has worn off.

Would the covers be interchangeable between these years

Yes. Quite a few parts on the 95-97 1UZ-FE are interchangeable with the 93-94 1UZ-FE, as well as a few less parts that are compatible with the 90-92 1UZ-FE.

The cam covers should fit on any of those model years.

See the images for reference. The covers with the silver paint are from a 1991, while the covers that are black are from a 1995.

Also, this listing shows that it is compatible for models from 1990-1997.

It could potentially be, or the paint may have come off of the cover if the engine was very dirty at some point, and a strong abrasive was used to clean off contaminants.
