I have a 1990 LS400 that I need to get the instrument cluster out of but we have no key for it so the steering wheel will not move. Anyway to manually lower the steering wheel?

run a hot wire to the switch and mash down

you could remove the lower plastic cover under the wheel,
open the gear box up and remove the gear. then turn it manually by hand - you may break the motor ------ which is valuable

if that gives you trouble, remove the mounting bolts and lay the column down on the seat.
