Default 1995 power steering compatibility?

so my PS fluid is pissing out really bad. only able to go 5 or so miles before the entire system is dry. its still leaking when the car is off and cold. scared im going to burn the pump up so obviously need to fix it. luckily the leak is not the pump itself so don't gotta worry about killing the alternator, but the leak seems to be coming from further back than normal, under the passenger side out of the rack, which I know will probably be expensive.

Im hoping its just the hose but I have a funny feeling that it isn't. my question is that is the rack or hose or anything from the PS system compatible from a 94 to a 95? I know they are very different cars but its worth a shot to ask. my 94 is never going to get fixed up, doesn't run and is collecting mold in my driveway, but it has a ton of new parts on it. can I use any of them for my 95?

its a sketchy shot in the dark but never hurts to ask..

I say compare the parts numbers in the parts books.

99% sure most major components are incompatible.

In November 2014, i had the power steering pumps rebuilt in my 94 and my 95. The 94 had a reman unit the previous owner must've put on. It was not in rebuildable condition according to my mechanic. Since it was a reman, it turned me off to cheaper remans. Also I don't have deep pockets for factory remans. So I purchased a cheap original OEM pump and reservoir ($50) from a junkyard and had my mechanic rebuild it the OEM rebuild kit. The 96 rebuilt salvaged pump fit the 94 perfectly. Most ebay sellers sell reman'd units that are supposed to fit 90-97.

Moral of story, a 94 pump would probably fit your 95. A 96 pump fit my 94 perfectly. :thumb:

I hope your alternator is ok. If not, it sounds like you have a good parts car. Is that the really tired 94 you bought from a mourning widow? Something like she didn't change the oil for years?

yep that's the one. still haven't got around to doing anything with it. and now my 95 is having some issues so its even further on the back burner atm. found out its not my pump. its my rack that's bad. the 94 has a good rack. wonder if its transferrable.....

hope this is as simple as a hose repair! instead of trying to retrofit a part that may or may not fit, find the leaking hose, remove it and have it repaired. there are lots of shops that repair hoses for hydraulic use all the time. usually they are repairing forklifts and other heavy machinery.
