Front passenger seatbelt issue
Hey guys, I'm hoping I can get some help with this. My problem is the passenger seatbelt has too much slack. What can I do to fix this? Is it common problem? Would a Lexus dealer fix this for free as it is a safety hazard? Thanks in advance.

A common problem, you can take the cover off and extend it all the way out, then use a tooth brush with soap and clean it very gently. Sometimes the build up of dirt and grime stops it from retracting properly. It's more likely worn out from use and you will have to replace it.

My 94 has sloppy front seatbelts. It really seems unsafe. I wonder what replacement options are. OEM is too expensive. I was thinking about getting some volvo seatbelts and buckles and swapping em out. A buddy of mine is a 240,740,940 era enthusiast and all his ancient (never cleaned) belts retract perfectly.
My 95 and 00 seatbelts retract nicely but I started guiding them back to full retracted position ever since I noticed a lot of 90-00 ls400s are sloppy. At 174k and 235k they seem to be holding up nicely.

Sorry it's been so long. I cleaned it and retracts better than before, but that isn't really my problem. I guess I should've explained better. When I buckle in the seatbelt it has no tension at all, not how it should be. Any ideas?
