Default Door lock actuator replacement. 1999 ls400 passenger side

I have a 1999 ls400, my driver rear door lock works intermittent when pressing the keys. Any one ever replaced this part, and how hard is the job?

Window should more than likely be up so you can have room to remove the actuator. I actually found it easier to remove the window when I changed my front drivers side actuator.

So I was able to tackle this project on Xmas day I took the door panel out and found out the locking mech. Was build up with gunk, did a lot of cleaning and spraying silicon grease, I'm happy to say, most of these intermittent problems just needs a good cleaning and regreasing it works perfect now, I must have tested it out 50 times and it's as good as new.

Ours began doing this a couple weeks back. Glad our members have these posted to make life easier and less a wallet hit.

Thanks for the report, anesthesia.

I'm glad that you proved that my method was effective for your 99 LS400. This is one of several simple and inexpensive methods that make it possible to keep our LS400/Celsior on the road long.

Other than this, I have experienced different problems in the past and found that most of those could be fixed by the simple DIY. I have decided to introduce some of those such as the ECU capacitors issue, the strange slow acceleration issue, the quick check for the current draw, the LED tail/brake light issue and others. Some of those were not quickly accepted by people here may be because of the strangeness for them and also my explanations in English were limited. I have some more ideas and I will be posting those in the future. Let's keep our precious cars long.

You never want to spray silicon grease so it can get on any area that is ever to be painted. Putting some on brake parts maybe, but keep it away from the body parts. Its one of the worse things to clean off before painting.

And huge thank you to Yamae for all his good ideas to help keep the LS's going.

Great Shout out for yamae in pointing me in the right direction, thanks again for all you share of your knowledge on these amazing cars.

Dicer, I only spray the silicon grease on the moving locking mechanism, and springs, never on any paints or metal.
