Unhappy 1996 ls400 antenna mast

Ok so today when I went to pull my car out of the garage my antenna hit the door and bent. I then went to see if I can bend it back in place but it snapped apart. I was able to get the top half out and get the full cable out that pushes it up and down. I right now ordered this one on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/301767434582?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) and will see how it works but what my main question is will I get bad quality now since I am using another antenna? I did try to look for a OEM one but was unable to find it. For those of you who used a eBay antenna how has it worked out for you?

Thanks

Ok well after reading some post about the eBay ones I decide not to get one off eBay. Does anyone know where I can get a OEM one? Can I get it from the dealer or do I have to get one online?

I found this one online at lpartsworld.com (https://www.lpartsworld.com/product/...337-24181/284/) Is this website legit and good to use or is it a fake?

Thanks

They are a forum sponsor and they are dealer in Northern California. Use "CL5" for an additional 10% off their prices.

Ok then I might buy it from them. I'm going to ask the dealer with me what they will offer if the online one is cheaper then I will go with them.

^ i used the lexls tutorial to replace my mast on my 97 using ebay parts and it works fine for me.

eventually though i converted the cell phone antenna imprinted in the back glass as my new radio antenna, so it's unknown how long the ebay mast will last after constant up/down cycles.

I ordered a 21 dollar one off Amazon. Have yet to put it in but it looks to be of good quality.

on my older LS's I replaced two and got them off ebay and they worked just fine, no problems at all.. plus they are easy to install, even if you have to totally take it apart....

Well just finished mine, I just kept what was in there for grease too. I'll have to install it and see how it works. Old one was broke in 2 places.

Okay the best way to do this antenna deal is take the unit out of the car. And open it up to get all the broke pieces out. The grease deal is the most difficult, just make sure there is some on the moving parts. Reassemble with out installing the new mast. Then I removed the connector from the antenna ecu, and used plus 12volts plus on the black with white stripe wire in that connector and minus on the blue wire, while feeding in the gear tooth cable, I used a paper clip for the one terminal with a alligator clip jumper wire to the battery, and another paper clip just on the other wire and momentary touched it to make the motor pull in the cable. This is way easier than to try to assemble it and way better than having a helper turn on and off the radio, as it is more controllable. I have not installed the unit yet.
