I know this doesn't have much to do with Lexus except that I was driving one while recording this. I just wanted to share it.

I hope that you turned that over to the cops. Was the driver impaired?

He was a mechanic. This was his client's car. He claimed that the steering failed. He also had a tablet running diagnostic at the time. so it could be distraction or mechanical. The car owner's lawyer contacted me a few days ago. The only reason I picked up my phone to record was because he was driving crazy.

This is a good reason why I never have anyone work on my cars. If he was planning on monitoring a scan tool he should have had a helper. Unless it was a part failure that can happen. Though likely not if he was driving for miles like a drunk.

10 miles on a diagnostics run? i think that's a bit excessive no? you should get data pretty much within the first mile or two.

The lawyer said the car's owner tried to get the repair shop to pay for the damages but they claimed the mechanic was a contractor therefore not covered by the repair shop's insurance. (I know, it makes no sense). Lawyer told me that the mechanic had this lady's car for 8 days and had put 800 miles on it. By the way, this was about 6:30 PM and 30 minutes from the repair shop and he was going the opposite direction from the shop.
