Default 99' Cracked Outer Door Handle

My outer door handle is cracked, and I've been looking for a used replacement for my 99'. So far I've come across plenty for the 95'-97', but none for the 98'-00'. Visually they look the same, but I figure internally they may have revised a few small parts. Does anyone know if an earlier version could be retrofitted, or if the handle pull is interchangeable?

'95-97 and '98-00 door handles are not interchangeable.

That said, a brand new doorhandle, in the correct paint color for your car, is only ~$130-140 new from lexus. I would trust that over a 15-17 year old handle any day.

I agree! Just get a new one!

Lexus Pembroke Pines has good prices now that Sewell doesn't do online.

Had I known that door handles came painted and were available for like $100 back in 2006 when I got my first 93, I would have saved myself the grief of finding a used one, that also broke a year later... and i was always gentle

my 98 drivers door handle has a crack in it. How difficult is it to remove and replace the door handle? I did a search and couldnt find an answer.

not hard, just be gentle and use common sense, the plastic parts/connectors are fragile..

Be very careful with the plastic connectors. If you break them then you have to either buy a new handle or find one in the junkyard like I did.

never knew this! what makes them different? i would think the outter shell was the same, but difference lied in the lock cylinder, etc?

this leads me to another question, is the outter door skin the same too?

timmy, the thickness was thicker on the 98 up so they would not break so easy.. dont know about the rest, 'cause never needed to know..
