92 LS400 cold air intake and other mods
Hey I was wondering if it was possible to put a cold air intake on a 92 LS400...and what other mods can i do besides putting a turbo or supercharger in to increase hp or maximize the potential. Can't really find to many aftermarket parts for my 92 so any help is good. Thanks in advance.

there are no bolt-in true "cold air" intakes available. the factory intake is cool air, all aftermarket intakes suck in hot air from the engine bay and have shown exactly 0 hp intake.
Searching is your best bet, and going through the FAQs. Exhaust modifications are common and probably the best bang for the buck. Much past that you're looking at things like headers, custom cold-air (though gains are minimal as the factory intake is fine for N/A), and more.

Yea I revamped my exhaust system already. I don't know about new headers. My friend suggested it before. But I just want my car to run as good as possible before I finish how it looks. Don't want to sugarcoat a turd, cuz at the end of the day it's still **** lol.

That bypass thing you posted is usually put in place somewhere in the middle, so that when your filter gets wet, the engine can pull air through the bypass instead of pulling water moisture and sending you on your way looking for a new engine.
If you look at the stock airbox on an LS400, it's already a pretty good setup where it gets the air directly from the front and routes it into the air box. I doubt you could improve it much with an after market cold air intake. And I'm talking about a true cold air intake that scoops up the air from under the car instead from engine bay.
Even with a custom tune (if anyone even does it on these engines) you wouldn't be able to get much out of it, so your options are:
1. forced induction (turbo, SC)
2. Nitrous
3. LSx engine swap

Its a 4 door car, who needs performance with that? I'd get something more sporty and worth upgrading, old cars you can do it with out all the emissions stuff to worry about.

Yea, I'm not looking to make it car moving I'm not trying to race the thing lol. But I do want to maximize the performance. I'm new to the car scene which is why I was asking around. That's all tho.
