Smile 1993 ls400 weird acceleration and tranny issues

a few days ago i tried to take a trip with a few friends about thirty minutes after getting on to the interstate the car began to rev high with zero acceleration so i coasted off the road shut the engine down and turned the car backk on it ran fine for about 2 minutes then did the same thing again. the car ran flawless before this and now problem comes back every time the engine reaches running temp. i checked the transmision fluid looks fine and is full. before the car stops sending power to the wheels it shifts and accelerates smooth.????

any ideas what this could be or how i could start trouble shooting this?

This is a good read because this is one service aspect that 90-97's will require. May be relevant to yours.

Possible to swap ECU's so long as it has had the capacitors fixed and with the right ones. Have to make sure the ECU is for the correct year. This is the ECU listing:

removed the ecu today and it has already been replaced with a remanufactured one. i opened it up anyway and all the capacitors and the board look clean and flawless...
im going to check the trunk wiring now after reading alot of weird issues coming from the trunk wires cracking and shorting..

Thumbs down

checked the trunk wiring. a few were cracked so i spliced reconnected with nice heat shrink connectors but all that did was fix my brake lights on the trunk. i also looked over the trans and diff and both have zero disconnected wires and no leaks... all signs seem to be pointing at an internal transmission issue
anyone know of a cheap good used tranny sorce?

i would do a drain and fill on the fluid to replace it using only toyota type-IV ATF. make sure you check the fluid level on a level surface, and i recommend you do it when the trans is warm using the "hot" side of the dipstick.

It could be internal like a piston seal or even solenoid. Before jumping into replacing the transmission, doing some pressure checks while rear wheels off the ground may show what is happening. The turning if off and then on and working is more of an electrical deal. It could be the pressure regulator, and maybe electric, I'll study it when I can. Changing that is much simpler than the transmission.

And what was it clogged with? The one main thing that can clog the filter is the friction material. And other than
old age and heat stress, the other thing that can cause it is using the wrong transmission fluid. If you had enough material to clog it, then you have other issues going on. Hope fully it lasts okay.
