Default Did they do a European "Standing Light", aka why is my left turn lamp stuck on?

Ok, I just woke the 93 LS400 up from a winter slumber. As we are all aware, these things can have electrical gremlins. After I shut it off last night, my left turn signal lamp, both front and rear, stayed illuminated. I had to pull the battery cable off so I wouldn't drain the battery. I used to have a Euro- spec Mercedes that you could do this on purpose with, the idea being that on the crowded streets of Europe you could leave either the right or left lamps burning while you went inside for a bit and not get ****-ended. I don't think this is correct for a US delivery LS however, and would appreciate any tips on getting the light to go out. Turn signal switch is centered btw.

I also believe I need to replace the hazard flash unit but not sure where that is located and it's not called out in the manual.

i am not aware of USDM cars having such a feature. most likely you have the very common truck harness short problem.

most 1st gen cars experience the trunk lid harness becoming brittle (especially in colder climates) and shorting each other out. inspect the wiring loom coming off the driver's side trunk hinge and into the trunk. you will find broken wires due to constant open/close of the trunk lid.

you also mentioned your hazard flash unit, which could also be the culprit. replace that first which is located at the hazard button itself! the button IS the flash unit, accessed from the back of the center bezel.
