Default Turn signal stalk might be broken

Weird issue with my fogs for 99. They won't stay on unless I press the end of the stalk like im trying to spray my windshield. Then they sort of click on. Maybe the PO really hated using the TS and beat on the thing lol. My question is how easy would it be to replace the stalk or fix this. The car looks waaaaaaaay cooler with the fogs on

it does sound like a worn-out switch stalk. very straightforward to replace after gaining access to it via the steering column covers. what i would do first is make sure there aren't any loose wires or connectors at the end of the stalk.

i know lots of folks just pound the stalk just for simple lane changes, no finesse at all!

to answer my own question, yes and no.

there are two tiny screws on the reverse side of the stalk that allow you to take off a panel and access the wires in side. BUT you cant get inside of the end to the swithches themselves. So i guess ill be trying to get a junkyard one that hopefully will not have the same issue.

Apparently the 98-00 GS's have this issue too as ive seen them talk about it in their forum.

Fortunately its very easy to swap out the whole turn signal assembly

had the same issue with my old '95, need to replace the stalk.

a used one will work fine, IIRC I paid ~$70 for one but that was back in like 2005-2006. Not too much trouble to swap out either, though make sure you disconnect the battery since you're working near the airbag wires.

Anybody know if the 95-97 stalks would be compatible with my 99. I remember the 95-97s were very sturdy comparatively. It also seems like the 98-00s have this issue more from what I've read on here so a used 99 stalk would be likely to have or develop the same issue
