Default replacing rusted part of brake line

I'm replacing both brake lines that are rusted from the top of the fender all the way to the muffler. I noticed part of both brake lines have a section of rubber coating or some other type of anti-rust coating so I cut them where this coating was to make sure I get all the rusted part out. My question is will a compression fitting work on this coating of some sort to the the regular line. It would be nice if the whole line was like this because then it would never rust but I guess that would make too much sense.
