Default help.....sluggish acceleration

Hey what up CL I'm new to this forum.I just pick up 1991 LS400 with a lil over 300,000. Everything on this car is original. My issue with the car is sluggish when I take off, once it picks up speed it ride smooth transmission shift smooth on all gears. After a while as I'm driving when I'm going 20mph it feels like I loose power I push the gas pedal all the way down wait a couple of seconds it power surge... Feel like the gas gets cut off... And I notice the o/d off light flashes which I know I'm driving on overdrive. Please help what should I do beside a tune up.. I know it need it...
