Replacement keys for 2000 LS400 - ebay ok?

I see blank/uncut keyfobs on ebay. Can the dealership cut the keys for me. Then all I have to do to program them is to follow the pdf instructions for adding the key fob? I am in desperate need of a few more keys for both my LS and my IS300.

in my experience the dealership refused to cut my ebay keys under their explanation that the ebay keys are made of crappier metal and ruins their lathe. he showed me an OEM blank vs the ebay one i brought in and it was enough to convince me to get OEM. lexus and toyota did change their keys to be stronger after so many broken keys in the early 2000s.

it was $75 for the blank and cut WITHOUT the guts (transmitter). this was for my old IS300. the LS is similar. ebay is good for getting used keys WITH the guts, then transferring it over to the new blank, or getting OEM keys on the cheap.

I have bought two eBay blanks and had one cut at the dealer recently for $40. I never really paid any attention to the metal and the guy at the dealer did not mention any particular problem. I will say that the plastic casing is way cheaper and easier to break so you might take that into consideration.

I have bought 5 keys from ebay over the last 4 years, Davenport (lexus repair) programed two of them for my white and black 99's.. Sewell cut 3 of them for me (95-97) for 7.00 dollars each.. the two for my 99's were 22.50 each... NEVER has any comment been made about quality...

the ebay key work fine but make sure to get the correct shank length for your car. the LS400s use the shorter shank blanks.

I've bought both the shells (that you put your remotes into) and the remote-less master keys (that have the immobilizer chips embedded in the head) for <$15/each, and a local locksmith charges ~$20/key to cut them. (no dealership in socal will cut 3rd party blanks). Self-programmed. Confirmed working on multiple LS400s/IS300s/2GS.

have you ever ordered other parts from them? OEM belts and what not?

yes. Their prices are some of the lowest ive seen. They have the best prices on keys and will cut for free.

Sewell lexus is cheaper for most other stuff w/ clublexus discount. Also sewell will ship coolant and other liquids while pembroke pines wont due to some hazardous material law, or so they say.
