Default 20K mile mint LS 400....$29,000...?

Good morning. The LS 400 has many diehard disciples. I found a 21K mile car for sale in eBay, but advertised for $29,000...does this kind of money make sense to you all?

Do we anticipate current/future “collector” car status?

thoughts?

What year is it? I like the 2nd generation better, so 95-00 is where it’s at, 96-97 preferable. Beware of age related issues like circuit board failure. Got a link?

There was a similar one that brought $21,000 on BAT recently.

At that price, it's a museum piece, not a daily driver. There's no point spending that kind of money on it if you plan on driving it. Add a lot of miles and it becomes just another used car, and you've just set $25000 on fire.

ya, he'd probably get more appropriate answers on the LS400 forums.

I owned an LS400 a long time ago and have fond memories of the car. I’d say at least 30 percent of us in the LS460 forum have owned an LS400 at some point

valve cover gaskets on the 1uz-fe are very simple and easy to change, no special tools needed, minimal skill required. Suspension bushings are a big problem on the ls460 as well.
The UCF20 LS400s common problems are with the computer capacitors, gauge cluster, radio and hvac control LCDs, and the difficulty of replacing the starter. (I never had to touch the starter on my LS400 but I’m putting it out there). Also the EGR pipe on the 95-97 is prone to cracking, the PS pump idle up valve can fail and let PS fluid into the motors intake, and an external Ps fluid leak can ruin the alternator. Interior leather is standard Lexus fare: thin and prone to cracking and drying out. the plastic gears on the tilting and telescoping steering wheel adjustment motor can strip out with age. The harness that connects the knock sensor is very fragile. There are a few suspension parts of concern, mainly the strut rod bushing on the front. The car also tends to sag a little to the left (driver side) with worn, older springs.
