Default Console PRNDL lights work sometimes.

My lights next to the shifter on the console work, then they dont.
Same with the Sport switch light.
Loose wire? Or does it need a new bulb?
I'll be able to fix it if I can figure out how to get the wood trim off without breaking it.

What year is your car? Probably a loose connection since it is on and off. Might be time for a new bulb though but you have to get right one. I forget at the moment what the bulb number is but it's the same one used in the glove box. I bought several different kinds and for some reason I can get them to work in either the glove box or the shifter.

The lights next to the shifter are not electrically switched. The indication there is just done mechanically moving the open window attached to the shifter.

On the other hand, the cluster PDNDL lights are switched by the neutral safety switch electrically. The switch itself or related wirings/circuits may be causing your problem.

The wood trim can be removed just pulling it up using a tool shaped L.
