Default Service History (Canada)

Quick question, I am not the original owner of my LS400, and for some reason when I query up the dealer here or Lexus Canada on the phone they refuse to tell me anything about my car when I provide VIN + proof of ownership.

I don't desperately need it but it would be piece of mind, after having heard that US owners get their history so easily.

Lexus claims they can't do it because of the "privacy act". But something is very flaky about that statement because on my old BMW's the dealer gave me the history easily without proof of ownership even.

Any Canadians on here that could chime in would be cool, but maybe some of you American guys have some input on this for me as well, thanks.

Have you tried visiting a dealer? I believe they will provide you with a printout of the service history.

Yes, and no they won't. They tell me it's against the privacy act.

Thank you I will try this. I actually was in the middle of signing up a couple days ago then quit halfway through the registration when I saw fields that were US only, I should of been a little more persistent and I wouldn't of had to make this thread.

Edit: No dice, I click "next" on the first signup page and get "We're sorry, your request cannot be completed at this time."

Never mind, it eventually worked, oddly enough it didn't recognize my cars VIN at the initial input either.... I skipped that step, added my cars VIN afterwards, and all I get is history on ONE service visit in Naples FL, weird.

I brought my VIN # to the dealership and they printed the service history for my car which was blank, it only shows the build date. The above link also says "no service history available"

My guess is Canadian dealers weren't reporting service as consistently as they should have been, with the exception of some examples like yours Shmee. I'm curious to know if my car was originally from Saskatchewan since I do know the first owner was from there or if he bought it in the US. My car is a 91 and the ONE service visit in Naples was in 95.

I used this before i bought the car: https://www.carproof.com/order/icbc will tell you a lot more than just a carfax... if it was every reported, it should show up on there...
