Lexus LS400 wheel lock removal without lock key.
Hi guys... I got a flat on my freshly restored '95 LS400. No wheel lock key could be found in car. Had to improvise.
Auto parts store bought XZN Triple Square bit socket size M18. Used steel mallet to hammer socket into wheel lock. Used 1/2" Breaker bar to loosen nut. Removed nut from bit socket and spun off. Replaced with regular lug nut.
I thought I'd post because I couldn't find an answer in the forums.

Lost lock nut socket for 1993 ls400 - XZN M18 does not fit
I got the XZN triple square bit socket set M18, but it does not fit over the lock nut. What am I doing wrong?

Nice job. Too bad the key wasn't still with the car
By the way, those tools are making some nice scratches on your hood

Most Toyota\Lexus dealerships should have the "master" locks which will allow them to get it off the car and put a normal lugnut on there (what's the ****ing point if they all have master keys????).

You can get a new lock from McGard (www.mcgard.com). Highly recommend them. Not expensive. You send them a bunch of close up photos of the lug nut and they figure out what you need.

Most wheel locks don't do much to deter thieves.
I have concerns about the winner of that showdown, what happens if the lock somehow gets damaged? Removal will be almost impossible.

I got lucky because I was able to buy a few keys from Amazon and return the ones I didn't need.
I would just buy regular lug nuts and be done with it. Locking lugs won't help if they really want the wheels (they can just keep buying keys off Amazon like me lol).

its better to buy Irwin Bolt outs. They bite on the outside of the wheel lock and are much better than hammering inside of the wheel lock. And with these you can actually reuse the wheel lock if you go to the dealer and purchase a replacement key.
