Default HID headlights flickering

1999 LS400 HID headlights flicker... If I turn them off and back on they are good for a few kms then they flicker again...... Any suggestions ?

Isn't the color pinkish when turned on? If so, just replace the HID bulb.

check battery/alt voltage
do u have drl's? if so u cant use them with hid's
disconnect/clean all connectors with alcohol

if you havn't done any work to the car, then the bulbs are going out. If you did, then check all connections/wires to make sure everything is tight.

do they flicker but stay on, or flicker then turn off? do both sides do it?

Funny you should say that . The other night I pulled up infront of a shop at night and in the window after I had stopped the lights were still flickering. Then the R/H headlight went out. I opened the hood and jiggled the wires and connectors, banged the headlight but it wouldn't come on which tells me its not a connector. If I turn the lights off and on again it came on..... I now suspect its the R/H ballast. Getting another one this week to try. And yes, both headlighs flicker, even when the car isnt moving.

I had the exact same thing happen to my 99 a few months ago. I changed out the HID bulb for a new one and problem solved.

I changed the ballast in the R/H headlight and it seems to have fixed it.... Woo Hoo....
