Default Lower Radiator Sensor?

I dipped under the ole LS just now to relax and peek around. about 10 inches from the driver side tow hitch was a disconnected sensor that looks like it connects to the bottom of the radiator. Here's a picture. Man, I do not like to see things like this. I can't help but think that whoever was working on the car before me was somewhat sloppy. Anyway, what is this thing? I can't find it on Sewell Parts diagrams.

After more searching it looks like what was disconnected was the condenser fan sensor. Is that something that could create a problemif not plugged in? Btw, no CEL
