if you are sure it's the differential, it's an easy enough fix, all you need is a new gasket, a torque wrench, brake cleaner to clean the sealing surfaces, and some new rear end lube (GL5 type - Valvoline Synthetic is really good)

any recent work done?

Sounds like the standard drain plug gasket/stripped threads/dead gasket.

front or rear of the differetial? Leaking from the rear cover is an easy fix. If its coming from the front around the pinion shaft, thats a whole different headache.

you probably want to clean the exterior of the differential with engine cleaner and rinse with water (use a rag, don't spray engine cleaner nor water) and then the source of the leak will become much more obvious with it clean

once you have figured out where on the differential it is leaking from, then finding and fixing the cause is easy
