I have a 1993 lexus ls400, while in gear it cuts out at 2000rpm if you get it on it heavy, if I put it in 1st and go light throttle I can hit upwards 4000rpm. I read on here it's most likely a maf, ecu or tps, my main question is I have a california emissions car and the junkyard says it makes a difference can I use any computer or has to be cali? thanks

Call the parts dept. at your local Lexus dealer and give them your VIN number and they will give you the exact ECU part number.Use only the exact part number in your search and buy only the exact part number ECU.

very likely you have bad capacitors in your ECU. it's a very common problem.

even the junkyard ECUs will have defective capacitors due to the age. best to buy a replacement ECU, install the appropriate capacitors, and reinstall into the car for less downtime.

and as far as California emissions, I have never noticed a separate ECU for California, but you will need to stick with 93 or 94 model year ECU's only.
