It may be the alternator or what not, but my car won't start. Battery is fairly new. 6 months old. There is no clicking noise or anything like that. The cluster display lights do turn on when I turn on the ignition. However, the radio and a/c display does not turn on. The led light of the Front Windshield Defrost button flashes. Temperature does display but not the time; on a separate display screen. When the ignition is on, the headlights do not turn on. The corner and tailights do still turn on. This all happened when I was driving my car on a highway and it had started raining, so I turned on the headlights and boom, that's when I felt my car didn't had power. I pressed the gas and it didn't go forward. Luckily, there was no other vehicles around me and i was at a decline, so the car was just coasting. When I pulled to the side, it was obvious that the engine was not on. I have oil and fuel in my vehicle. I know for sure that's not the reason for the the engine to turn off. Please, I need yall advise and/or suggestions on what else may had caused this issue. Thank you very much my fellow Lexus Bros and Sisters. Mileage is a 235k. Overall this car runs great!

Reason: Correction- adding mileage
The water may have allowed a short somewhere. Look at your 80A fusible link under the hood at the fuse box. See if that is blown. It's the most forward of the large fusible links next to the fuse box. The head light circuit grounds about 6" before the headlights on each side. Make sure the TWO grounds behind each headlight are clean and snug.
I wanted to give people an idea of what to look for if this happens. I ran into a nearly identical issue. I was driving along normally, stopped at a light and my car dies. Same deal, a few dash lights come on but the starter wouldn't turn over. Luckily I was on a slight hill and I was able to coast to a cross street for repairs. I was so confused by my accessories working that diagnosing the issue took an hour or two. It was only after the sun started going down that I noticed the slightest plastic burning smell. Located on the side of the under hood fuse box there are various power leads. In my case (91 LS) the the screw in the #3 ALT 120 amp fuse had backed out blackening the terminal, melting the plastic surround, and killing Almost everything. I didn't have anything that would do a good job of cleaning the terminal at the time, so I scrapped away what I could with a key, gave the terminal a good squirt of Carmex (to increase conductivity), and walla, back on the road.
Tonyton3 issue may have been different, but it sounded just like mine.
